Africa Can't Win World Cup - Blatter

Sepp Blatter FIFA President Joseph Blatter has advised African countries not to think of winning the Senior World Cup in South Africa next year despite the strong representation the continent would be having at the mundial.

According to the Swiss, the good performance of the African teams in the U-17 and U-20 World championship held in Nigeria and Egypt respectively should not give the continent the basis of thinking of winning the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. "Winning the World Cup is more than eleven men running round the pitch chasing a round object.

"Winning the senior World Cup is both scientific and mathematical, and the team would have to be strong tactically and technically which these African countries don't have. They may be strong technically or tactically, but scientifically and mathematically, the odd is very much against them. Even getting to the semi finals will be difficult for them".

Mr. Blatter based his argument on the number of African representation at the mundial, which puts them on a numerical disadvantage against other European or South American countries.
