Poem: Downtown Badmentown

Downtown Badmentown!
where sleeping dogs bite,
gnashing teeth, as patience's overtime draws near,
always anticipating the butcher's treachery.
 
Downtown Badmentown!
drowned in a valley of greenery,
enveloped in a constant current of mild chilly air,
void of the restless noise of industrial machinery.
 
Downtown Badmentown!
citadel of real smart men,
quietly cooking mental ploys,
ready to contradict lying masters.
 
Downtown Badmentown!
maternity for the country's polite cronies,
delivered under your midwifery,
in congresses and rallies  doomed for hell
 
Downtown Badmentown!
where 'badmen' pronounce justice
postponed in courtrooms,
in the people's popular mob square.
 

Downtown Badmentown!
A place where the intellectual mantle glows,
as reverend teachers clothed in chalky suits,
sit on princes' stools.
 
Downtown Badmentown!
where good men do right bad things
in a bid to get right good things
